Addition and Renovation
The Original Building was 4,300 sf with a 3,700 sf Addition resulting in 8,100 sf.
Big Hearts Little Hands wanted to expand their facility, updating its appearance while maintaining a scale and style that felt more residential than institutional.
Natural light was a very important aspect of the design. The height and configuration of the cupola create diffused light that has a very nice quality. It also adds drama to the middle classrooms, which would otherwise have no visual connection to the outside.
